Tenant legal standing
Tenants postition: Lease exp 6/03, then on month to month, notified landlord 2 months prior to moving, cant afford going to move. Moved and left emmaculate. Says he is taking tenant to court for more than 3mos rent Tenant owes 1 mo rent($1K), asked that security ($1500) be applied. Tenant paid for roofing repairs, construction to basement, electrical box & circuit upgrades(valued over $3400). Never reduced from rent(have receipts). Landlord supposed to have septic repaired (est$5K) never repaired, backyard filled with sewage throughout tenancy. All video taped. Landlord never paid YTD interest on deposit, never provided payment receipts. Does tenant have a leg to stand on or law favorable to the landlord?
Wondering how far unnotorized promissary notes go legally.
Re: Tenant legal standing
Tenant seems to have several legs to stand on with certain issues but much more detail would be needed to be sure. Promissory notes are good regardless of notaries unless there was forgery or similar problem.
