Existing Will vs. New Marriage
One year ago our father opted to marry an assisted living care employee that took care of his dying wife, now deceased. Among other stories, her green card was expiring and he wanted someone to take care of him tell he died and she agreed, saying she loved him, etc., so she would not be deported they got married. Are the wills, power of attorney and living will that the children have now, that were written prior to this situation, any longer legal or in effect, with Washington being a community property state, if he were to pass away?

Living Will
My uncle has a living will with a DNR – he went through about 1 month of touch and go but has survived and is now in an extended care facility – he is now conscience and coherent – but is being fed by feeding tube – he is able to communicate quite well. In spite of this, his daughter (my cousin) and the sole heir, wants to pull the plug. Here are my questions:
1) can he verbally revoke the DNR?
2) Is there some standard in terms of his condition that says how bad he has to be before they can even consider the existence of a living will?
3) What is the right way to stop her and get this into the right venue for a legal hearing?
Thanks for getting back to me right away – this is life and death!

Collections – Charging Interest
I am a little confused about when a collection agency can charge interest. I have an account in collections relating to move-out charges. I am disputing the charges because they are in error. The rental company turned the account over to a collection agency and they are charging 12% interest per year. In Washington State, doesn’t the rental agreement have to specifically allow them to charge interest? What about collection set up charges?

Eviction – Prejudgment
I was evicted four years ago and noticed a judgement for $880.00 on my credit report. I assume it was for repairs or cleaning. I don’t believe it was lawyer fees resulting from the eviction. My rental agreement or contract doesn’t indicate anything about lawyer fees. I think their lawyer said something about prejudgement at the end of the hearing. Could this be for the cleaning or repairs or is that another court hearing issue? Is it too late to challenge the bill since it’s been over four years? A prejudgement? I am trying to find out why it’s $880.00 from the collection agency but they won’t provide any information.
Change in terms of notice to vacate apartment I gave my apt.
Change in terms of notice to vacate apartment
I gave my apt. manager an intent to move out by the middle of the month. I had to change that to the end of the month, because my house did not sell. Now I may need to be in the apt. for one more month. I’m currently on a month-month rental agreement. Can the apt. manger refuse to allow me to extend my rental contract one more month, since I’ve alredy given a notice of intent to vacate? If I pay rent by the first of the month do I have a legal right to stay in the apt? What if they have already re-rented the apt. for the next month? Do I have any rights at all to remain in the apt.?
