2 people sign a rental contract for an apartment after move in date one party decides not to honor the agreement or to reimburse the other the funds that they laid out for the 1st month rent & security and never moves in. Is the other legally entiled to half the rent for the lenght of that agreement?

Verbal Rental Agreement Problem
I had a verbal agreement (no lease) for a man to rent a room in my house for 2 months. He gave me a check for the two months rent, and wrote ”2 months rent” in the memo area of the check(lower left). This occurred 2 weeks before he moved in. A week later he called and told me he would only be there a month. Nothing was in writing. After the month he expected half of his money back. I did not agree and now he choses to sue me in small claims court. Whose side is the law on?

I bought a 89 cougar for my duaghter,did not transfer title.Seller kept title until I was ready to transfer.Daughter did not want the car,so I listed it for sale.Sold to person with a bill of sale stating car is sold as-is with no warranty.She met with title holder at title agency & it was transfered legally.2 days after owning car it blew a head gasket.Now she is sueing me for $800 cost of car.Keep in mind she looked at car 2 times & test drove prior to buying.Car was fine.Can she do this.What should I expect from court.Car was never in my name & sold as-is.

How to get name off title or retrieve car??
My problem is this:
Several months ago, my husband ”sold” my vehicle to his father..at the time, my father-in-law did not or could not obtain insurance so the title was not transferred. There is no bill of sale, and I never saw any money, so I am not really sure if it was indeed ”sold”. My husband and I are now bitterly seperated, and neither he nor his family will answer any of my calls or messages concerning this vehicle. The title is in my name only, and I have been paying the insurance. The car is on his father’s private property, and I have been told that it is not running (trans).
How can I either get the title into his name, get my name off of the title to eliminate my liability or have the vehicle towed from private property?? I cannot afford to pay the insurance, but I have to keep it on since the vehicle is registered, even tho it is not running…HELP!!
I have two small children..I cannot afford to run into any trouble caused by his driving while intoxicated as he is an alcoholic…

Bought a misrepresented used car in a private sale
Less than a month ago I bought a used car. The car seemed to drive fine, and the owner said that he had not had any problems with it and that it had a clean carfax. Based on this information I put a $500 down payment on the car. Later that week I ran a carfax report myself and found that the car had frame damage reported a few years ago.
I went back to the seller and told him that he misrepresented the car and I wanted to back out of the sale. He told me that he had already spent the down payment and wouldnt let me back out. He told me that carfax was wrong and that if frame damage was reported on the car it would have a rebuilt or salvaged title (which it didn’t). I ended up buying the car for $6,000, half because I because the seller said there wasnt any frame damage, half because he wouldnt let me back out of the sale. The seller made me sign an ”as is” paper. I had the seller sign a bill of sale that stated ”Seller is not aware of any major mechanical problems with the vehicle.”
I had a mechanic look the car over last week, and he found severe frame damage (bent and cracked in various places) and said that the car wouldn’t pass inspection. Do I have any legal recourse? What are my options? Who do I go to? Thanks!!
