Written Notice of Lease Agreement
I am currently renting a condo in Brooklyn, NY. I have a one year lease that started on July 1, 2007, and ends on June 30th, 2008. On March 21, 2008, I obtained new employment out of state starting in June of 2008. I emailed my landlord (who lives in Moscow) and informed him of my new job. I informed himt that I would like to I move out ”as soon as possible.” He agreed to put the apartment back on the market to rent. We agreed to help him find a new tenant. My lease states that I have the ”right to terminate the lease with 60 days written notice before the last date of moving out.” We are moving out on May 29, however, my landlord is requiring us to pay for the month of June ($2,000). So, what should I do now? I do not believe I have to pay the amount since I gave notice of my desire to move out of the apartment over 60 days ago. My landlord has been aware of my intentions. He has a $4,000 deposit. We have emailed him requesting information for our check-out and a final decision on the June rent. We hope to solve the issue directly with our landlord but foresee the possibility of having to take legal action. What are my options? Do I have a legal basis to challenge his request for the June Rent? Thanks

I have a rental lease agreement expiring Dec. 1st. My landlord had an attorney send a letter that I had to vacate premises in 30 days due to sale of house. In my lease agreement it says no such thing if house is sold. I am a single working mother with two girls 11 and 12. I feel I am being threatened and harassed. What are my rights? What can I do stop landlord from pressuring me? Thank You!

Rent Lease Agreement Expired
My lease expired in October, 2006. I called my landlord to ask him to send a renewal for a 2 yr lease and we agreed to a 50$ increase per month. When the renewal arrived, it was for one year only so I called and asked him to send the 2 yr lease instead. He agreed. It is now Feb 07 and, instead of sending the 2 yr renewal as we both agreed, he is now telling me that i have 30 days to move out of the apt as he doesn’t want to renew. Do I have any legal options?

I have with my tenant one year written lease agreement for condo apartment from November, 1 2000 to October, 31 2001. Then verbally I let her stay ….We did not sign any agreements more.
Now I placed on market my condo and gave her 30 day notice. She does not want to vacate my property untill October 31, 2006.
