Had to break lease due to financial calamity.

Had to break lease due to financial calamity. Do I have any rights?
I signed a residential lease in May 2003 with a landlord. Shortly afterward my business collapsed and I found myself in dire financial straights within a few months. I hung on as long as I could but in December ’03 I had to vacate the space. This was one of the most popular buildings in Boston’s South End. I lived there 2 and 1/2 years and never knew a space in this building to be vacant for more than a couple of weeks. After I moved out however the landlord let the space sit empty until the term of my lease expired at the end of May ’04 then promptly it in June ’04.
The landlord took a loss on the space for those months and now is trying to have his cake and eat it too by coming after me for the balance of the lease amount plus interest. Doesn’t he have some sort of obligation to make a reasonable attempt to fill the space even though I broke the lease? I am (and have been) willing to discuss some form of settlement with him but his heels are dug in and now he’s stopped talking to me and taken me to court for the full amount plus interest.

Sales Tax I purchased and took delivery of a car in Massachusetts.

Sales Tax
I purchased and took delivery of a car in Massachusetts. The dealer
accepted 6% sales tax detailed in bill of sale and purchase. Also took fees
for documentary preparation and title and registration fees. This was 6%
sales tax rate as the vehicle had to be registered in Florida. Legally 5%
should have been paid to Mass and 1% to Florida, however the entire 6%
was paid to Florida. This would have been appropriate, only of I had taken
delivery of the vehicle in Florida. Being that the dealer took the sales tax
and distributed it, on my behalf, did they have an obligation to do so
according to the law? When presented with this the RMV refuses to
register my car only when I have paid Mass 5% sales tax in addition to
interest and penalties. Can I recoup these costs from the dealer, perhaps
via small claims court?

Sold As-Is clause in a Bill of Sale
I believe I am being wrongfully taken to court over an auto sale. The buyer brought with him a bill of sale that states by signing this bill of sale he inspected the car and approves the condition it is in. He now wants to return the car one week later saying it does not pass inspection and that the car is a lemon. I was wondering by him says he accepts the car ”as-is” am i obligated to return his money and take back the vehicle

My name is Brynn I was located in West Yarmouth and am having some issues with my roommate. I moved into the apartment February 12, and received a text message on March 2, stating that I have one day to move all of my belongings out. I rented a uhaul and moved everything out on March 5th, they are currently looking to get $1050 plus $600 for the 2 weeks that I was in the house. I never signed a lease agreement and was told that rent is $450 a month and now they are looking to get $1650. I wrote them a check for $600, which was February rent plus utilities, it wasn’t able to be cashed because of lack of funds, however I was forced into writing the check because they wouldn’t let me get my belongings out of the house until I wrote them a check. Now they want to go to the police and say I gave them a fraudulent check. They wouldn’t even let me get to my belongings for a week before all of this happened because they tried to withhold my belongings, it took me calling the Yarmouth Police Department to get legal advice from them about the situation. Now they sent a letter to my father demanding money from him, this is getting absolutely ridiculous and need some legal help and advice. Can someone please contact me and help me? I can’t afford a lawyer to help me in court and they are about to drain me out of $1650 for 2 weeks of living which is more then ridiculous! Is it legal for them to do this? to kick me out and try and charge me with all of this? Please someone help me out and give me some legal advice.

Thank you,
Brynn
