Window Contractor threatens lien
I hired a nationally known company to replace the windows in my condo. They have completed all except one window that they are having difficulty with, because another building fixture is in the way. They were aware of the intrusive fixture when they signed the contract.
They are insisting that I pay all or part of the contract, even though payment is not due until completion. They are threatening to issue a contractors lien if I do not pay. They have told me I must meet their deadline of one month to hire a different contractor and have the fixture moved. I cannot afford or meet this deadline.
Can they file a contractors lien when they have not completed the contract? Can they force me to pay when they have not completed the contract? Can they force me to meet their deadline for moving the problem fixture, when they signed the contract knowing it was there? If I make a partial payment, am I giving up my ability to force them to finish the contract?

Renting from my Mom
Does your mom have the right to change the locks even though its her house im renting? We don’t have a rental agreement just verbal and she doesn’t like my boyfriend so she is making us move, even though she knew he was moving in with me. I have paid her, so now she changed the locks with my belonging inside. What can I do legally?

Challenge the authority of Uncle (with alzheimer’s) DPOA ?
My 92 year old uncle died yesterday. I am his only living
blood relative. My uncle lived in Illinois and I live in
Oregon. When my uncle was put into a nursing home a
month ago I got a call from R, a man who said he has
”power of attorney” because my uncle ”had become
mentally unable to pay his bills”. R stated that he ”had
to step in”. I have never asked whether or not R has
durable power of attorney, but it is beginning to appear
that he does because he has arranged my uncle’s
funeral and talks to me as if he has complete control.
My uncle had full blown alzheimers and now I do not
know what will become of his property. I am, of course,
now suspecting that R has continued access to all my
uncle’s money, bank accounts, property etc. R has
scheduled the funeral in less than two days and I would
be hard pressed to get there in time even if I had the
funds to go.
Should I ask R what is his authority at this stage?
should I ask R who my Uncle’s lawyers are? I am
nervous that R has
made my Uncle sign things over to him (and that is
REALLY not right since he had alzheimers!)
Who can make a will?
Who can make a will?
Who can make out a will? A Living Will? Or a Durable Power of Attorney? What are the differences between these 3? What are the benefits of having any of these 3? When should these 3 be used?
I am writing a research paper for school, and I chose the topic, ”Why It’s Important to Prepare a Will, Living Will, and/or Durable Power of Attorney.”
Please help me out if you can.
Sincerely,
A Northwestern Business College student

foreclosesure
My mother refinanced her home in Feb. Now is in the process of foreclosure, her defaulted loan is now in the hands of a law firm. When she refinanced I had signed a quit claim deed for my name to be on the title. Does that mean I owe the money too? I looked at one of the docs and my mother and grandmother are listed as ”individual” and me ”title only” My grandma was also added to the title and signed all the papers my mom did,but I only signed about four. Will this go on my credit also?
