We are currently renting a house on a month to month basis.

We are currently renting a house on a month to month basis. The landlord needs to sell the house and told us on Jan. 13 that we would need to move in 30 days. We asked for the request in writing and he finally brought the letter today (Jan. 21). The letter is dated Jan. 1 and states that we have until Jan. 30 to move. We had arranged to be out by Feb. 13 but there is no way we can move in 9 days. Can he do this? What recourse do we have?

I moved out of my property at the beginning of December.

I moved out of my property at the beginning of December…I had a lease agreement with them that ended 7/28/09 and we never signed a month to month lease agreement..They claim that I owe them two months rent because I didn’t give them a sixty day notice but it didn’t say that in the previous lease and I believe it is Ga state law that you have to sign a month to month lease…that stipulates the terms of ending the agreement before they can charge you for something you don’t owe. I also got a move out inspection report that they never even invited me too and they have all these ridiculous charges because most of the problems we had when we moved in were never fixed and the are trying to charge us for stuff they claimed they didn’t cover when we moved in..I need some advice what to do as they want over 2000 dollars when my security deposit should cover any cleanup costs…Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon

In the State of GA, i’m currently renting a townhome from the owner.

In the State of GA, i’m currently renting a townhome from the owner. i did have a roommate and we both signed seperate leases. i signed a 2 year lease (to lock in the price) and roommate signed a1 year lease. owner/landlord stated he was going to short sell the house to the bank and asked if we could move. my roommate has moved, but now the owner/landlord says he’s keeping the house and wants me to sign a new lease, (month to month) for more money. my original lease that i signed for two years didn’t have any stipulations regarding if one of us move out, that the the other renter will incur a increase in rent. i don’t feel comfortable signing a new lease for more rent. can i still try to stick to my original signed lease locking in my rent for 2 years?

month to month vacate notice I was on a 9 month lease, the apt was taken over…

month to month vacate notice
I was on a 9 month lease, the apt was taken over by someone else, my lease expired and i asked how much my new lease would be and my request was ignored for weeks. So, I went ahead and put in a 30 day notice, for the 9 month lease your required to put in a 60 day notice but that lease was expired. So, they put me on a month to month lease without my knowledge and now i have moved and they hit me with a 710.00 fee saying i did not give proper notice. If i was placed on a month to month lease by them that I never signed or was never aware of, doesnt that apply that the notice is 30 days and this charge should be null and void?
