Sale of Vehicle and Subsequent Civil Complaint
We recently sold a 12 year old SUV privately and my husband was served today with civil complaint. The buyers are stating that the vehicle stopped working shortly after they purchased it and they want the $2000 they paid back, plus $70 for towing. They paid cash and did not ask to have the vehicle checked out by a mechanic before purchasing. Unfortunately, my husband did not have them sign a bill of sale so we have no paperwork, but the buyers signed the title when they paid. They did contact us 4 days after the transaction and asked my husband to buy the vehicle back and he declined. It was in good working condition when we sold it, although it had an oil leak that we disclosed prior to the sale. We have never experienced anything like this before and we are not sure what we should be doing. According to our research online, a private sale is final. Is this correct? Do they have a case? Should we hire an attorney or handle it ourselves in court? Please help! Thank you so much for your time.

Bought a car, seller can’t get the title-what can I do??
I bought a vehicle from a private individual, and now he tells me that the title is tied up in a bankruptcy. He says he can’t repay the money, and the bank won’t give up the title to the vehicle so that he can forward it to me. I have a bill of sale that we both, as well as a witness, signed stating he had full rights to sell the vehicle, and that it has a clear and marketable title, free of liens & encumbrances. What are my legal rights in this situation?

business was sold to me by someone who wasn’t the owner
I purchased a local car audio and performance business in Thomaston Ga on 12-15-06. I was advised by the attorney of the seller that he suggested we do a bill of sale(to save on costs). In the bill of sale it advises that I am the new owner of the business, the name, all invetory and tools. The funds were paid to the law office. Today a previous owner came to me to advise that the owner I purchased the business from never paid him off for the full owed note of the business. He said he wants to go after the one who sold it to me and does not intend on taking any of my belongings or shutting down my business. He had a bill of sale signed @ our local courthouse from the first purchase of the business. I have a bill of sale, signed by a lawyer and the supposed owner who sold me the business. Does anyone have rights to the items I purchased? I have not signed a lease at the location yet, If I move locations and change the business name can they attempt to take my purchased machinery or tools or cause any financial harm to me? What rights do I have in continuing to operate this business OR having my money refunded to me? I’m sure he has already spent it all!
Thanks for any advise!

Motorcycle Financing Issues
In June, I visited a Motorcycle dealership, and using a motorcycle manufacturer credit card account, I purchased a motorcycle and accessories totaling $7000. I was issued the title in my name without a lien. I came to find out that the dealer issued a full credit to the credit card account 7 days after the purchase (6/12/02). I figured I would be charged again. In mid August, I called the credit card issuer to close the account as I did not need it any longer. I received a confirmation letter stating that I had a zero balance and the account was closed. On 08/31/02, I received a call from the dealer demanding I return the bike that day, or they would have me arrested. I of course returned the bike. Now, they want me to give them all of the paperwork as well as paying them an unstated additional amount of money to cover the depreciation. Can I be arrested over any of this? Do I owe them any additional money if the bike is returned? Would that amount be affected by the fact that they took 3 months to let me know there was a problem? Is this the same kind of situation as if an automobile’s financing falls through? Since they issued a full credit, and I have a no lien title and bill of sale, do they have any right to the bike?
