I have a friend that recently sold his car and before he sold it he called his bank and asked what the pay off was.The lady at the bank told him it was $2498 and some change. So he got a moneygram for $2500.The next day the same lady from the bank called him and confirmed she had received his payment. She also told him his lean release should arrive whthin 10 business days. Well, he sold the car a couple of weeks later. The kid that purchased the car went down to do the title transfer and the title had not been released. When my buddy called the bank they told him he owed $1100 more. He has not been able to talk to the original lady he spoke to the first time. The people at the bank told him pay the extra money and they would release the title. Well, to make a long story short the kids dad is now involved and is threating to have him thrown in jail unless he gets his money back or the lean release. The dad told him he would be at his work tomorrow with the cops to have him put away. Now the good part, my friend never signed the back of the title and the kid paid in cash and there is no bill of sale. What happens now? My buddy wants to make it right but he’s at the mercy of the bank. Plus the cash went toward a new car. WOW!!!!!

Production of Title for boat trailer from previous purchase
In September, 1999 I purchased a boat trailer from a man through a friend who lives 150 miles away. At the time this person did not have the physical title to this boat saying that it had been lost. He gave me a handwritten bill of sale and said that I would be able to obtain a new title in my name from Motor Vehicle with this. Motor Vehicle notified me that the previous owner would have to apply for a duplicate title and that I would need this to obtain a new title in my name. The previous owner refuses to do this for me. What are my options?

Confiscation of dog
We are in a nasty custody battle in NC. I moved to VA 3 months ago and brought my dog. Ex gave dog to me though bill of sale is in his name. He was abusive to the dog and did not want it. He threatened many times to take him to the pound. I wanted the dog. I took care of the dog during our relationship. I have receipts for all vet bills. These are recient since my ex would not allow me to take the dog to the vet. As custody escillates, he now wants my dog. How do I prevent him from taking my dog? What do I need to file in VA? Must I also file in NC?

Can I sell my vehicle even without current registration?

Can I sell my vehicle even without current registration?
I sold my car two days ago ”As Is” to a co worker-(we do have a notorized Bill of Sale), the same day the car broke down and he left in on the interstate. The car was towed because it did not have the current year’s tags and decals. He wants his money back because he states it is ”illegal to sell a car without the current year’s registration (i.e. tags and decals) He is threatening to take me to small claim court if I don’t return his money. He paid $1500.00, $1300 cash;$200.00 to a mechanic for minor repairs. Am I covered since I sold the car ”As Is”?
