Power of attorney
my mother would like to complete a general power of attorney it shows it includes financial, health care & property. she would like to do this now, as she is healthy and well- my question is – is there a time limit once we sign and have it notarized – does it expire – if the document does not indicate a termination date- ? Would this be legal until as long as she was living?

In reference to a refinance on our home. The notary brought the papers to the house for signing. I was not aware that my husband would need to sign certain papers, I have general power of attorney, so I signed as such ”poa …..” I showed the quick claim deed, and she took my original poa with the documents. All paper work was completed on thur aft noon Sept.25, Late on Mon, aft noon, the title co said the would not except the poa as it was ”not spacific to the property” End of Deal! Three months time, rate, etc lost…. Do they have the right to do that? I know I have 3days,to change my mind, but I don’t see where they do??…Two weeks later the title co offered to close it with a higer rate and 1100. more in closing, plus out of pocket cash, I had two hrs to decide.

I have ”general power of attorney (with specific termination date)” of my finacee and I went to the bank this morning to get my name put on her account and they denied this form. Can they do that? There reasons were that it had a specific termination date and that it had a clause that stated that the form would be invalid in case of death, disability or incapacity, thus they couldn’t tell if she was either of the three. Could you tell me if they are in the right to reject this form and what can I do?

Power of Attorney
My fiance recently attempted to take her life and has voluntarily committed herself for treatment after being Baker acted at the hospital.
She will be in a PHP (Partial Hospitaliztion Program) for a minimum of ninety (90) days and has asked me to handle her affairs until her release.
The General Power of Attorney information for the state of Florida indicates: ”a natural “mentally” competent person (called the “Principal” or “Grantor”) to authorize someone else (called the “Agent” or “Attorney-In-Fact”) to act on his or her behalf.
Is Kelly considered to be mentally competent given the circumstances and her current treatment? Is there a special type of POA that we need to fill out other than the General POA?
