can i break my apartment rental lease legaly here in florida to move out of state for a new job?

Tenant Security Deposit Rights:
I was half of the party on a rental lease. There was a deposit required to rent the property and upon moving out/lease terminated a check was issued for the deposit solely in the name of the other party. If we were cosigners on the lease and both responsible for the payment, was it legal for the landlord to issue the deposit check only in the name of one of the parties?

I rented a mobile home with a 8 month lease. the man died during the first month.who do I return the security deposit to, his caregiver,his family or the probate court if there is one. Can I retain part of the deposit for the next months rent due to not having enough notice as per the lease .finaly what can I do with his belongings if his family does not remove them?
