contract law
Two months ago I agreed to sell my car to someone. I still have the title in my name. I wrote a bill of sale that we both signed, that stated that the buyer would pay me $5500 on October 7. $3500 was to be paid on November 5 and an additional $3500 on December 7. To date the buyer has paid me a total of $300. Today he told me that he has spent over $8000 repairing the car and that he’ll let me have it back for half of that – $4000. The car is in the possession of the person who supposedly did the repairs.

I really don’t want the car back but I don’t think that I’ll ever get paid. If I demand it back from the repair shop, I’m sure that I’ll get stuck for the repair bill. What can I do?

Bought a car, seller can’t get the title-what can I do?

Bought a car, seller can’t get the title-what can I do??
I bought a vehicle from a private individual, and now he tells me that the title is tied up in a bankruptcy. He says he can’t repay the money, and the bank won’t give up the title to the vehicle so that he can forward it to me. I have a bill of sale that we both, as well as a witness, signed stating he had full rights to sell the vehicle, and that it has a clear and marketable title, free of liens & encumbrances. What are my legal rights in this situation?

tow yard sells me a improperly liened vehicle
I purchased a 1992 camaro from a tow company by answering an ad in the auto trader for $900.00 I took out the motor that was in it as it had a main rod bearing problem and I put a high performance new motor in it. I went to the dmv to register/transfer title, etc and the lady tells me that they had no right to sell me that car as it was owned by military personnel and they could not be notified properly of the lien sale if they wanted to opose the sale therefore I was to return the car back to the towing company (she commented,”they should know this”)and get my money back. Unless they preceded to redo the lien and got proof from the commanding officer to the registered oner, showing proof of service for the lien sale. In reveiwing my paper work, noticed that on the bill of sale the gut wrote ”Scrap Only” and a purchase price of $50.00 yet on my carbon copy receipt from the tow company’s recept book it states ”as is” and shows that I paid $900.00 cash. I’ve got money and time into this vehicle and am very disappointed what should I do?

Legal Question About Car Purchase
I bought a car from a private party for $1,400 and within one week it completely broke down. In addition to the $1,400 I paid over $200 to have the title transferred and to have it towed after it stopped running. Now the seller says he will fix it for another $300 but can not gaurantee it will run and that he might ”need” more money for repairs. I have a bill of sale and want a refund of some if not all the money plus the extra $200 I’ve spent. I just want to know if I have any legal rights if he refuses to refund. He has admitted the problem with the car was present before he sold it to me. Thank you for your time.
