Nursing home bill
I signed a contract (as power of attorney) when I admitted my grandfather to a nursing home in 2007. They misfiled for Medicaid and it took several months to get it started, now they want me to pay the bill personally and have a bill collector trying to collect. They mislead me into thinking I had to sign to get him admitted. I don’t think I should be liable to pay. Please advise.
Thank you,

Re: Nursing home bill
If the contract is an enforceable one, then you will have to pay. If the contract is not an enforceable one then you are off the hook. First contact Medicaid (be prepared for many long phone calls and maybe meetings), try to get them to intervene and resolve this. If not, then you may want to retain an attorney to assist you. If the contract holds them to a standard, which they did not uphold, it would mitigate in your favor.
