I’m renting a room from landlords who own the house (but they do not reside in the house). We signed a Rental Agreement contract in the Summer of ’09. I lost my personal copy of the contract. I’ve requested a copy of the contract via phone from my landlords, but they tell me “Yes” nor did they grant my request. In the state of CA, must the landlord provide an additional copy of the Rental contract if the tenant requests it? Thank you.
To the best of my knowledge, they are only required to give it to you once at the time you initially enter into the agreement. Offer to pay them for the inconvenience – time plus costs. Otherwise, I think you may just have to continue to ask nicely for them to make you a copy.
