Forged Deed
I am an heir to a Estate which the bulk of is a piece of property where my childhood home once was.
The house had burned down in Jan. 2006 and my mother passed away from injuries in the fire in Feb. 2006.
My brothers and I have been unable to agree on how to spit the Estate. I have been maintaining this property for most of my life as well as caring for my parents until each of their deaths, and up to this date paying all bills taxes insurance watering mowing weeding repairing painting etc. My Dad bought the home in 1950 when it was brand new. I have the original deed and bill of sale even pictures of it being built and all through the years of my whole family there. Well I just paid over $4600. in property taxes in Jan. 2008. I file a protest on line at the end of May just before the deadline. I was checking online at the Appraisal District web site and noticed all of a sudden it showed a different owners name.
Someone forged my dead parents names on a deed dated 3-28-08 transfering property to someone else. What do I do to contest this fraudulent deed?

You need to act quickly. You should file suit against the named persons on the deed, and file a document in the deed records indicating that the property is subject to a lawsuit (so that it won’t get further encumbered). Time is a factor.

Are you determining that there was a fraudulent deed solely from the appraisal district’s records or have you seen the deed or a title report? The appraisal district is not an official record of ownership, the county clerk’s deed records are.
You will need to file suit to set aside this fraudulent deed and sue the responsible parties for damages.
