Bill of sale – too much info wanted by seller
I want to buy a used car from what I thought was a private seller – turns out the car is owned by his corporation. Seller is trying to say that he needs a copy of my drivers license and proof on insurance to sell me the car AND he wants to KEEP the copy after the sale – he says the bill of sale is 8 pages long and is also charging a fee of almost $200 to fill out the papers. Seller insists he can register the car in my name without me being present and I have to make the check out to him for vehicle price, taxes and tag fees. DMV says he cannot register a car in my name w/o PoA.
Forgive me if I’m mistaken but I feel like this is a scam because I don’t believe a private seller needs to maintain permanent info – or even have it in the first place of the private buyer. Please help. thanks

Private Party Auto Sale Gone Bad
Hello,
I recently sold a classic car to a guy. It was an automatic transmission car but he wanted it converted to a manual. we agreed on a price including the installation of the manual transmission. The car ran fine after the work but died one block away from the guys house. We pushed it to his house signed the title and he payed me almost in full. He kept $500.00 to fix it. On my own time i went to his house the next two days to try and fix it, then collect my $500.00, but couldn’t get it started. He still has the $500.00. He took it to a mechanic who claims the whole motor is bad and needs replacing. Now the guy wants me to give him some money back. I didn’t think to write ”AS IS” on the bill of sale. I feel bad for him but does he have a legitimate claim? What is the law in this situation? Thank you so much.
How do I get the title?
How do I get the title?
I purchased a car from a private part. His bank still held the title for the car. I gave the seller a certified check. I took the car when I gave him the check. The check was written out to the bank who holds the title. The check was paid out two weeks later. It has been two months now and I still have not gotten the title. I tried calling the seller and he won’t return my calls. I have a bill of sale and a copy of the check. What do I have to do to get a title?

Motorcycle Financing Issues
In June, I visited a Motorcycle dealership, and using a motorcycle manufacturer credit card account, I purchased a motorcycle and accessories totaling $7000. I was issued the title in my name without a lien. I came to find out that the dealer issued a full credit to the credit card account 7 days after the purchase (6/12/02). I figured I would be charged again. In mid August, I called the credit card issuer to close the account as I did not need it any longer. I received a confirmation letter stating that I had a zero balance and the account was closed. On 08/31/02, I received a call from the dealer demanding I return the bike that day, or they would have me arrested. I of course returned the bike. Now, they want me to give them all of the paperwork as well as paying them an unstated additional amount of money to cover the depreciation. Can I be arrested over any of this? Do I owe them any additional money if the bike is returned? Would that amount be affected by the fact that they took 3 months to let me know there was a problem? Is this the same kind of situation as if an automobile’s financing falls through? Since they issued a full credit, and I have a no lien title and bill of sale, do they have any right to the bike?

I brought a used car in the state of Virginia on Thursday, December 10,2009. Can I return the vehicle? I want to return the vehicle because I realized I paid too much for it. On the bill of sales it states that the vehicle cannot be returned ” just because I changed my mind”. Is this legal or can I return it.
