Bought a car, seller can’t get the title-what can I do??
I bought a vehicle from a private individual, and now he tells me that the title is tied up in a bankruptcy. He says he can’t repay the money, and the bank won’t give up the title to the vehicle so that he can forward it to me. I have a bill of sale that we both, as well as a witness, signed stating he had full rights to sell the vehicle, and that it has a clear and marketable title, free of liens & encumbrances. What are my legal rights in this situation?

Without knowing what “tied up in bankruptcy” means, or who is in bankruptcy, it is impossible to provide an accurate response. If the seller is in bankruptcy, you will likely have to go through the Bankruptcy Court to try to get the title, but there is a long list of potential hurdles.
