Denied Rental Agreement
I recently applied for an apartment. I was told that I was denied because of my credit score. However, I did not receive a letter of adverse action based on credit or told which credit bureau they used. Shouldn’t I have at least received this information? Is there anything else they aren’t providing?
Re: Denied Rental Agreement
No, I believe landlords may(and do) routinely check the credit records of prospective renters without the requirement that the adverse action notice be issued in the event that the rental application is denied since the prospective renter is in fact not actually applying for credit in the usual sense of the term, and, furthermore, the landlord can always maintain that other factors also entered into the decision to deny the application other than the applicant’s credit score.
