Can my rent be raised if I have a lease agreement?
I have a lease agreement with my current landlord. It is for 1 year. She is selling the property. When the new landlord assumes ownership can they raise my rent? I also have a dog. Can they make me get rid of the dog. It is written in the lease that I may have 1 dog.
Re: Can my rent be raised if I have a lease agreement?
Unless specified elsewhere in the lease, the incoming landlord takes the property subject to the provisions of your lease. They cannot alter its terms until your lease expires.

Assuming you are not in rent control/stabilized apt. and have a written lease, the lease protects you only til the end of the lease.
Your new landlord must abide by it’s terms until then.
