Re: 30 day notice
If you have lived there for a year or more, the landlord under a new law must give you 60 days notice of termination without cause. Although the landlord is not required to state a reason unless there is rent control where you live, he cannot evict you to retaliate for your exercising a protected legal right. If you think that is what happened, you should see a lawyer.

Re: 30 day notice
typically, you and/or your landlord can give a 30 day notice to quit premises for cause or no cause, but not for “bad” cause legally. such things that constitute “bad” cause would be discrimination, illegal retaliation for something you legally did or reported during your tenancy, etc..
with this in mind, if your landlord is illegally retaliating against you for something you legally did or reported during your tenancy, you would be entitled to damages and would have standing to sue your landlord in this event. if you would like further legal assistance and/or representation on this matter, email my law firm today with more detailed information as to why you were given a 30 day notice to quit premises by your landlord from your standpoint as well as from his/her standpoint. we can take things further from there.
